After spending close to two years in the making of Agent Vinod and seeing only one released film in the interim period - Aarakshan - Saif Ali Khan has moved on. While he is giving finishing touches to Cocktail, he has already wrapped up quite a few portions of Race 2. Also with Judwaa 2 is on the anvil, he is pretty much on a signing spree of sorts, what with at least three new films all set to kick-start. With over half a dozen films in his kitty, Saif is seemingly compensating for the time spent in the making of Agent Vinod.
"Yes these are exciting times and there are quite a few interesting films that I would be kick-starting soon", confirms Saif, "Race 2 is turning out well and with Abbas-Mustan at the helm of affairs, it is going to be a stylish and fun affair. Then there is Judwaa 2 which is going to be quite a challenge as it gets me into an altogether different zone when compared to some of the films that I have done in the recent past. However, after letting my hair down in 'Pungi' (Agent Vinod), I am confident that the audience would be accepting a different side of me."
The other film in the pipeline is an adaptation of a French comic book which may have director Anurag Basu calling the shots. Saif is also looking forward to kick-start another film where he would be playing a Bhopali detective. In addition to these three films, he is also all set to start a love story with Saket Chaudhary, the details of which are currently under wraps.
With quite a few assignments in the pipeline, Saif recently ensured that whatever little time that was available to him during the promotion of Agent Vinod was utilized for the pending shoot of Cocktail. In fact he shot for the film in Delhi when he was in the city for a promotional tour of Agent Vinod.
"Yes, we planned it out quite well. I guess that's the best thing about producing two films", smiles Saif, "We were in Delhi promoting Agent Vinod and then decided to multitask by also shooting for Cocktail. Honestly though, if I was just an actor on the two films, I would have kept the promotion and acting dates aside. However as a producer, the need of the hour was to stretch and best utilize the time."
On a parting note, one is tempted to quiz him about his mindset post the release of Agent Vinod. After all, it was nothing less than a dream project for him.
"Well, to be honest I didn't really look at Agent Vinod as a dream or anything", Saif says with a straight face, "It was a film which came with a lot of intellectual ideas. I wanted to bring a new facet of the actor in me which has played quite a few comic and romantic characters in the past. The idea was to play a hero of a different kind and produce a quality product. That's the kind of offering I wanted to come with."
With a half a dozen more offerings in the pipeline, one can well expect to hear a lot more about Saif in time to come.
