Earlier this week, the Saif Ali Khan - Kareena Kapoor starrer Agent Vinod was faced with legal trouble when the Iranian band Barobax Corp sent a legal notice citing copyright infringement. In the case, the band claimed that the initial portion of the film's song `Pungi' was lifted without changes from the band's popular number `Soosan Khanoom' composed in 2010 and registered on June 30 under the Copyright Act in Canada. On Wednesday, they moved the Bombay High Court seeking a stay on Agent Vinodâs release, along with a restraining order from using the track in the film.
However on Thursday, the case was heard and dismissed, with the film opening on Friday as planned. The cause for this dismissal of the case was that the band failed to have the required documents in place and the similarity between the two tracks was marginal.
